CONWAY — I know exactly where I was 50 years ago today: joining Pluto, Goofy and Mickey Mouse in a spirited patriotic march down Main Street USA at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., on the nation’s bicentennial. The fireworks that night had to be the best I have ever seen.

Then 18, I was at Disneyland with two of my sisters, Mary Leone, then 28, and Jeanie, then 13, and my brother-in-law, Bob Borowski, as part of an incredible family cross-country tour of America’s parklands and other attractions.
