CONWAY — I’m back after a week’s vacation down on the Seacoast, where the ocean water was 61 degrees and perfect for a couple of days reading at the beach and taking a Portsmouth Harbor Cruise.

It was a good way to send off the summer of’26, and I highly recommend taking the historical cruise, which takes you past the dormant but imposing Portsmouth Naval Prison, the Fort Constitution lighthouse in New Castle at the mouth of the harbor and Whaleback lighthouse — followed, of course, by a lobster roll at the Ferry Landing in Portsmouth.
