Lucy May Barker McAllister Burnell

Lucy May Barker McAllister Burnell, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Bangor, Maine, on Dec. 27, 2025, with her two daughters by her side. Born on Nov. 24, 1945, in Waterbury, Conn., she was the eldest of six children born to Dennis Barker and Ida Bixby Barker.

Lucy spent much of her youth in Oxford, Maine, where she developed a deep love of books that stayed with her throughout her life. At the age of 16, she married Erwin McAllister Sr., the love of her life. They shared 25 cherished years of marriage and raised three children together. Later in life, she found companionship again in her marriage to Ralph Burnell.
