Inez Stokes, 91, of Freedom passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2003, with her daughter Ruth at her side. She was born on Oct. 16, 1911 in Parsonfield, Maine, the daughter of Carl and Ruth (Wheeler) Taylor. She was a graduate of Parsonfield Seminary. She and her husband Edward were superintendent and matron of the Carroll County Home from 1959 until 1972. She was a member of the Freedom Church Choir for many years, and a long-time member of the Freedom Grange. She enjoyed making gifts for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Edward; daughter Sylvia; two brothers, Percy and Lubert Taylor; two great grandsons; and a great great granddaughter. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara McLeese and Ruth Beckwith; brother G. Earl Taylor of Maine; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. At her request there will be no calling hours. There will be a memorial service on Monday, April 28 at 10 a.m. at Lord's Funeral Home in Center Ossipee. It was her request that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a favorite charity.
