YORK, Maine — York Hospital and MaineHealth recently announced that state regulators have approved the hospital’s plan to join MaineHealth.

The approval, announced Aug. 10, follows a comprehensive review through the state’s certificate of need process and by the Maine Attorney General. Maine Health officials said it marks a significant milestone in a partnership aimed at preserving local access to high-quality care while expanding resources and services for the York community. The transaction is expected to close on Oct. 1.
