CONWAY — Those who are awaking with scratchy throats and irritated eyes are likely to be wondering if it’s allergies, but it’s more likely these days to be the impacts of inhaling smoke from Canadian wildfires.
“It’s often been said that New England is the ‘tailpipe’ of the Midwest that is home to industrial centers as the air blows this way — but in this case, we’re receiving the smoke from the Canadian wildfires,” Brian Fitzgerald, director of education for the non-profit Mount Washington Observatory, said Monday.
