SANDWICH — The Sandwich Singers will present their Christmas concert three times this year: Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Melvin Village Community Church on Route 109 in Tuftonboro; Thursday, Dec. 14, at St. Andrew’s-in-the-Valley Episcopal, located on Whittier Road in Tamworth; and Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Methodist Meeting House in Center Sandwich.
The Singers, now directed by Peggy Johnson, was started by Bob Bates nearly 40 years ago. Many of the singers who make this annual concert series happen also sing year-round with Silver Lake Singers — a choir for hospice and healing — so there are segments by Silver Lake, directed by Mary Edes, as well as special guests at each of the locations: a bell choir at Melvin Village, songs by Lucy Gatchell and Dexter Harding at Tamworth, and violist Julia Howell at Sandwich. Other featured musicians are Carolyn Boldt, Chris Boldt, Mary Edes, Ellen Farnum, Rick Holt and Howard West.
