EFFINGHAM — The Effingham Public Library and the Effingham Historical Society are hosting an open house at the library on Friday, July 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to launch the Web site for the Effingham History Project.

The goal of the Effingham History Project is to create a searchable database accessible to all interested in Effingham and its history by recording in digital format available documents, reports and photographs relating to Effingham and its environs. The public is invited to attend the Open House and to bring along any old photographs for volunteers to assess for possible inclusion in the database.
