Eaton Town Column: holiday farm tour at Foss Mountain Farm Nov. 30, Dec. 1

The Inn at Crystal Lake and Palmer House Pub will be closed through Thursday this week for Thanksgiving. They will reopen for dining and lodging on Friday, Nov. 29. Cassandra Marsh will be back for a few nights of classic show tunes at the piano on Wednesday, Dec. 4, to Friday, Dec. 6. She will return for Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 30 and 31, (the Inn is usually closed for dinner on Mondays and Tuesdays, but will be open those nights to ring in the New Year). Also, the Inn is almost sold out for dinner reservations on Saturday, Dec. 7, before the Carol Noonan and Dana Cunningham Concert at the Little White Church. Call soon if you still need a table before the show. There are, however, quite a few reservations still available after Dana's Sunday, Dec. 8, matinee also at the Little White Church. The Inn at Crystal Lake and Palmer House Pub is the perfect place for sustenance before and after these shows.

A news alert from Lana Nickerson and Dick Dole: The annual holiday farm tour at Foss Mountain Farm will take place on Saturday, Nov. 30, and Sunday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. People can visit the alpacas and learn about them and their fiber. We'll also have our "Alpaca Boutique" in the house, where you can do some Christmas shopping (or just buy something warm and soft for yourself). There will be alpaca yarn and spinners' roving and a few crocheted items that come from our own alpacas, plus we will have warm socks, hats, scarves, gloves, and furry stuffed animals for sale. Some of the products are made here in the U.S. by the New England Alpaca Fiber Pool, where we send some of our fleeces. The rest are made in Peru, where there is a huge population of alpacas and a thriving commercial textile industry.
