Arthur W. Seavey, 84, of Madison, died Oct. 11, 2004, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway following a long illness. Born in Conway, the son of Randolph and Beatrice (Benson) Seavey, he had lived in the Mount Washington Valley all of his life.Mr. Seavey was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had owned and operated the former Seavey Repair Shop in Conway for 20 years and he owned and operated the former Seavey Equipment in Albany for six years. Prior to his retirement he had been the Conway Town Manager for 17 years.He was a member of Ralph Shirley American Legion Post 46 in Conway and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Bartlett.The family includes his wife, Bernice (Eastman) Seavey of Madison; a son, Arthur P. Seavey and his wife Lucille of Sanbornville; a daughter, Joan L. Sanphy and her husband Donald of Madison; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at 3 p.m. in the First Church of Christ Congregational in North Conway with the Rev. Alfred Gagnon III officiating. Burial will be in the Conway Village Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.Donations may be made to the Conway Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 342, Conway, NH 03818-0342.
