Leadership MWV graduates and members of the community spent the day with the Air National Guard for a refueling mission on a KC-135 Stratotanker in early July. Presented by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) of New Hampshire, 10 Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce members and Leadership MWV graduates enjoyed a day at the Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, N.H.

The Mount Washington Valley guests were able to spend the day with representatives of the ESGR and its volunteers to gain an inside look at how the ESGR provides support to employees in the National Guard. They were then invited onto the KC-135 as part of a routine training flight which is necessary to keep air crews and the boom operators qualified. The group flew over New York then turned northeast over Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. The group had a unique opportunity to see first hand the in-flight refueling operations between the KC-135 and a C-17 Globemaster III, the U.S. Air Force's newest and most flexible cargo aircraft.
