Earlier this fall, Eric Nelson, a 20-year licensed funeral director, formerly of Bridgton, ME who served families in Fryeburg and surrounding towns, bought Hall Funeral Home in Casco, Maine, a six-generation family-owned funeral home established in 1833.

Nelson grew up in East Stoneham, Maine, and attended MSAD 72 schools for a time, later graduating from Oxford Hills High School in South Paris.

He went to college for funeral service and began his career serving families in the Farmington, Maine, area for 15 years before moving to Bridgton in 2014.

He remained connected to the area over the years with longtime relationships and still does, with his involvement on the Pine Grove Cemetery Association in Fryeburg.

"When I moved to Bridgton in 2014 and subsequently started working in the area, I was thrilled to be able to reconnect with childhood and old family friends, sometimes albeit in a time of need. I was so warmly received and couldn't be more appreciative."

Although a few more miles away, Nelson hopes to continue to serve those family friends.
