July came in with a deluge, a tropical storm-like event that washed out roads, took down trees and left the Saco River running high and brown for several days afterward.

Rainfall totals for July 1 ranged from 1 to 4 inches across the region. In its aftermath, however, came a stretch of perfect summer days, a time to regroup, repair the damage and enjoy the sunshine.
