TAMWORTH — The Cook Memorial Library’s December art exhibit features pen-and-ink drawings by Don Mayer of Center Sandwich.

Mayer’s pen-and-ink drawings are whimsical and idiosyncratic. He takes “particular joy in depicting animals, old houses and landscapes.”

Answering a call to return to drawing seven years ago, Mayer has developed his own unique pen and ink style.

He says, “If there is any 'lesson' in my development as a visual artist, it’s to follow those funny voices in your head that may be calling you to try something new.”

The show includes over a dozen original drawings. Many feature local landmarks along with Don’s dog, who offers commentary on the scene depicted.

Mayer shares some of his work on Instagram @quirkypeninkartist.

The exhibit can be seen during the library's regular open hours. The Cook Memorial Library is located at 93 Main St. in Tamworth Village.
