OSSIPEE — When the Friends of Constitution Park Ossipee gathers at Constitution Park on Saturday, the celebration will be about more than colorful leaves and a newly completed trail project. The Leaves and Legends event, beginning at 10 a.m., will celebrate the work of local students and teachers and honor the memory of longtime Constitution Park volunteer Tim Otterbach who died last fall. Otterbach’s craftsmanship and vision helped shape the park for the present and future generations.

The event marks the completion of a collaborative project between the FCPO and students at Ossipee Central School. In May, first and fourth grade students shared classroom research with the organization as part of their curriculum. First graders, working with teacher Samantha Morrill, focused on local wildlife. Fourth graders, with teacher Lisa Wheeler, explored the cultural, historical and geological features of the region. The students' work has now become part of the park itself.
