In the Neotropics, it has been discovered that overwintering Blackburnians are the most commonly observed bird in the canopies of trees overtopping Columbian coffee farms. Here in these Andes foothills, several warbler species seasonally forage for insects on these near-tree farm habitats.

These small family farms make up to 95 percent of coffee producers in this country, and gaining organic certification is desirable but not always available, which would allow better financial incentives in putting up more trees on their farms.
