The Academy Awards named ā€œNomadlandā€ the Best Picture of 2020, a strange year for movies as the major studios held back all their larger releases due to the pandemic. This allowed smaller films like "Nomadland" to garner more attention.

The beautifully written, shot and acted "Nomadland," which also won Oscars for Best Actress (Frances McDormand) and Best Director (ChloƩ Zhao, only the second woman to win a directing Oscar, and the first woman of color), focuses on people who decide to live largely off the grid.
