The Fryeburg Academy baseball and softball teams will both host playoff games this week. The Raider baseball team, who finished at 9-7 and in the sixth seed, will host 7-9 eleventh seeded Cape Elizabeth on Tuesday afternoon at 4. If the Raiders win, they will travel to Rumford on Thursday to battle third seeded Mt. Valley. Coach Richard Ela, pleased with the sixth seed, commented on the upcoming post season, As long as we play well, we will be in this. All the middle tier teams are fairly even. Home field advantage is big.The Fryeburg Academy softball team, the No. 1 seed with a 15-1 record, will have to wait to see who their quarterfinal opponent will be. The winner of the Oak Hill at Wells preliminary game moves on to face sophomore Hannah Hill, one of the premier pitchers in the state, and Fryeburg Academy, the Western Maine Conference champions, on Thursday. In a best case scenario, Raider fans will have to wait to decide whether they want to travel to watch their baseball team in Rumford or stay home and watch their softball team on Thursday.
