CONWAY — With the entire starting lineup back in the fold after reaching the Final Four in Division II in 2018, optimism is high for the Kennett High baseball team in 2019. While the weather might be the only thing to slow down the Eagles thus far this spring, Coach Josh McAllister says it’s one more hurdle his troops must overcome if they want to get back to Southern New Hampshire University for the playoffs come June.

“The weather is what it is,” McAllister, who is in his fourth year at the helm of the Kennett baseball program, said, Monday while more snow fell on the valley. “I remember in 1997, we got two feet of snow during April vacation. We live here because of the snow. It’s been a tough season because we haven’t gotten on our field yet, but like I told the guys if we’re still planning to do the things we hope to do, we need to get over it. We’ve all played on a baseball field before so it won’t be new to anyone when we do.”
