FRYEBURG — Teamwork makes the dream work. Girls' hockey in the Pine Tree State is thriving largely due to cooperative school district teams. Three Fryeburg Academy students — Isabel Brito, Carlin Galligan and Azalea Grant — are members of the Gorham/Bonny Eagle/Massabesic/Fryeburg/Lake Region/Westbrook cooperative girls’ ice hockey team this winter and are having a blast.
The team, coached by longtime Mount Washington Valley coach Dave Grant of Brownfield, is made up primarily of student-athletes from Gorham High School with 11 girls, while Fryeburg has the second-most with three. Grant’s daughter Azalea leads the team in scoring season.
