FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Academy girls’ soccer team (2-3) added another victory last week in a well-played 2-1 win over Lakes Region (0-4-2) at home on Sept. 17. The victory, sandwiched between two physical away losses at Waynflete (1-2-1) by 5-2 on Sept. 14 and a 9-3 shootout loss to a forceful team of Rangers (2-4) under the lights at Greely on Thursday, puts the Raiders in need of some midseason points to stay in the playoff hunt.

The Waynflete Flyers played a direct and physical style of soccer which took a toll on the Raiders, leading to several nicks and injuries for Coach Antonio Barronuevo's starting 11. On the pitch, the Raiders fell behind 4-1 at halftime, but rallied to play a competitive second half. Sharla Mae Day and Maddie Darling tickled the twine for the Fryeburg goals.
