FRYEBURG — The Fryeburg Academy boys’ lacrosse team (12-1, No. 2 seeds) advanced from the quarterfinals with a 9-6 home victory over Wells (9-5, No. 7) last Thursday to earn home field advantage for Tuesday's Maine Class C semifinal matchup with No, 3 Lincoln Academy(12-1).

The Warriors arrived in Fryeburg primed for revenge after the Raiders posted a 10-9 overtime win between the two rivals on May 16. Fryeburg was plenty up to the task, and jumped to the early lead when Evan Caracciolo scored off a feed from Gunnar Gurnis. Wells quickly answered back to tie it up at 1-1. Gurnis restored the lead after a feed from Josh Frye. Jared Chisari then took the ball after a turnover from deep in the Raider end, ran the length of the field and found the back of the net in a spectacular effort. Caleb Eklund immediately won the ensuing face off to himself, dodged multiple defenders and buried a shot in the back of the net. Wells responded and scored two more times to close within 4-3 at the end of the first quarter.
