FRYEBURG — Soccer is known as the beautiful game worldwide, but it can also be cruel. A team can dominate a match from start to finish and still fall victim to a smash-and-grab defeat. That was the case for the Fryeburg Academy boys’ soccer team, which thoroughly dominated Wells in the season-opener at Atwood Stadium last Thursday night. The Raiders carried the play, outshot the visiting Warriors 21-3, but it fell 2-1 on a goal with just over 2 minutes to play.

“It’s disappointing,” Coach Bob Hodgman-Burns said following the setback. “We need to do a better job of finishing. We created plenty of chances, but didn’t capitalize on them.”
