CONWAY — Tom Petty was right when he sang, “The waiting is the hardest part.” That’s the position the Kennett High ice hockey team finds itself in, playing the waiting game, hoping it has done enough to earn a playoff berth.

The Eagles dropped their regular season finale 4-3 to Belmont-Gilford at Ham Ice Arena on Wednesday night to fall to 7-11 and into ninth place in the Division III standings. The hometown flock now must wait to see what ConVal-Conant (6-9, seventh place) and Pembroke-Campbell (6-10, in eighth place) do in their final games to see if it will be in the post-season or not.
