CONWAY — The Kennett High girls’ soccer team faced the iron of Division II with back-to-back matches against perennial powers, Hanover and Pembroke, last week, and while the hometown flock came up short in both encounters, the Eagles proved they can play with the best — and would welcome the opportunity to meet either side again because that means they’re a playoff team.

The Eagles fell 3-1 in both matches but were within striking distance in both late. The losses against a pair of Final Four teams in 2018, including eventual champs Hanover, dropped KHS to 1-2 on the season.
