CONWAY — The Conway Rec travel soccer team captured the 2019 Carroll County Soccer Tournament Championship in Moultonborough on Saturday, Oct. 26. Going 5-0, it was the first Carroll County Soccer Tournament Championship since 2002 for Conway Rec.

Conway opened play with a 2-1 win in a shootout over a tough Sandwich team to open the day. The local booters continued to roll with wins over Lovell (2-0) and Wolfeboro (3-2).

In the winner’s bracket final Conway beat its rivals Ossipee 1-0.

After Ossipee beat Moultonborough in the loser’s bracket finals, the two teams met up once again in the championship match. After regulation play the game went to penalty kicks. Alex Allain, Megan Clement both scored setting the stage for Grace Sanfilippo. With the final kick in the penalty kicks, she nailed a shot into the bottom right-hand corner of the net giving Conway the title over a very tough Ossipee team.

The two teams met just one week prior in the Valley Cup final with that game needing penalty kicks as well.

It was a great year for the Conway Rec travel team who were led by coaches Nate Zipf and Jeff Millett.
