Thursday was a banner day. I decided to drive up to Pinkham Notch at noon and climb the half-mile trail up to Square Ledge to see the record November snow on Mount Washington.

Square Ledge goes way back for me. When I first worked for the Appalachian Mountain Club in 1966, the view from the old log Trading Post at AMC Pinkham Notch Camp, looking directly across Route 16 up at Wildcat E and Square Ledge below, was imprinted in my mind.
