Having hiked in the White Mountains many years, I rarely pick a new mountain I haven’t done in the guidebook to hike. But this week, I decided to indulge and check out a couple unfamiliar destinations in the new “AMC Maine Mountain Guide” that was written and compiled by Carey Kish and which I reviewed recently.

I love unique small mountains, especially if they have dramatic ledges where you can that look out over the rolling forested landscape of New Hampshire, and especially Maine.
