September is when golf becomes the ultimate team sport. We have the hometown Fryeburg Academy Raiders and the Kennett High Eagles enjoying good fortune on the links, and, now, the pros are getting into the team spirit. While the ladies took center stage two weeks ago with the Solheim Cup, the men were scheduled to tee it high and let it fly on Thursday in the rain at the Presidents Cup match at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Canada (a mere 200 miles from the Scenic Vista Overlook in Intervale).
The Solheim Cup, according to the LPGA, is played primarily every other year and "began in 1990 with the financial support of Ping golf club manufacturer Karsten Solheim and his wife, Louise," was played at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, Sept. 12-15.
