One of the all-time great clichés of fly fishing is that “fly fishing takes you to beautiful places.” This is true enough, but as an add-on, “fly fishing also takes you to interesting places.”

Recently, a friend brought to my attention a couple of books that he thought I might be interested in. The books are “Northwoods Echoes” and “Northwoods Heritage” by Richard E. Pinette. Of course, I was already aware of them, and in fact they were already a part of my library.
