PEAKS ISLAND, Maine — Who cares about a weather app when you have an analog weather rock. The app provided the numbers, but that rock, that oceanside, blissful, dry, anchored little gray slab was all about the island vibe.

The app reported it was 20 degrees cooler on this little Casco Bay island than it was back in the White Mountains humidity of home. But the Peaks Island Weather Rock on Seashore Avenue which has to be along one of Maine’s most amazing bicycling miles, said it all. It was dry, and that meant it was sunny.
