Like Mud Bowl and the White Mountain Milers’ Half Marathons, mountain bike festivals are part of the fall activities calendar. Celebrating the waning of the light and the drop in temperatures as the season rolls toward winter, these festivals provide a great excuse to gather the mountain bike community to ride, play, enjoy good food and drink cold brews, and listen to loud music.

Next weekend, check out the White Mountain New England Mountain Bike Association’s Fat Tire Fest at the Fields of Attitash in Bartlett. The “Fat Tire Fest” starts Friday, Sept. 19, at around 3 p.m., continues all day and night (10 p.m.) Saturday, Sept. 20, and finishes Sunday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m.
