Conway Public Library trustees have been meeting with town offiials over whether a planned road reconstruction project to improve the flow of traffic through Conway Village will negatively affect the the more than 100-year-old building and its grounds. Town Engineer Paul DegliAngeli and selectmen say it is necessary to take out the sidewalk in front of the library in order to make room for a third lane of traffic heading east [on Route 113 past the library. Some — including former selectman Mark Hounsell and Library Director David Smolen — worry that the project would change the look of the library, which was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2017, as well as the horseshoe-shaped drive that was part of the building’s original design.

This week’s Tele-Talk: Do you think taking the sidewalk in front of the library is a big deal?
