George Epstein (“Electoral Supply Chain,” June 14 column) makes some good points, but he fails to mention that President Joe Biden has created the strongest economy in the world following the COVID crisis, with record highs in the stock market and record job growth.
Joe Biden has accomplished spending trillions of dollars of money, all borrowed from future generations at 5% interest rates.
His "inflation reduction act" was about green energy, not inflation. The current inflation rate is 3.3% (not 2.7%) and it is not that close to the 2% Fed rate goal. Maybe we will get there, but even if we do, inflation and interest rates will have to go up to pay back our national debt. As far as balancing the budget first (because we can't reduce debt until and unless our budget is balanced), we are nowhere near that goal. The deficit is now perpetual and the debt is expected to grow to $50 Trillion in the coming years.
Spending public monies by increasing debt is not leadership. Both parties have failed to lead on this important issue and it looks like there are no consequences for this. There are and there will be.
The jobs increase cited in the letter was mostly jobs coming back after the Covid layoffs. They don't count. Claims that Biden has "created" millions of jobs is intentionally misleading while factually true. Anyone who cites this statistic without providing context is intentionally gaslighting their readers.
Other than spending public money and not paying for it, what else has Biden done? He has opened the Southern border, allowing over 10 million known and millions more unknown illegal entries into the US. He has supported progressive DAs who don't prosecute crimes, he has "forgiven" many student loans which is adding to our deficit and is unfair to those students and families who paid off their student loans or to those who didn't attend college or graduate school. He has fallen for the "climate change" agenda which mandates that Americans keep reducing their carbon footprint while China, India, and Africa keep increasing theirs; and he is indirectly responsible for two wars which were started by dictators or terrorists who were emboldened by Joe Biden's failed leadership.
Other than that, he's been great, when he can read the teleprompter and doesn't do his 'deer in the headlights" move.
His personal corruption, accepting money by selling US interests to foreign adversaries, is treasonable. That should have disqualified him from holding public office years ago. Everyone seemed to know this about Joe Biden, including President Obama, but nothing was done and the whole matter was covered up by a compliant deep state in Washington. Sickening.
Well, it's official now G, you've completely lost your mind. You are not only still parroting right-wing lies about Biden being corrupt and selling US interests to foreign adversaries, which is what Trump has been doing, but you also believe there's a conspiracy to cover it up. Does your sickened mind envision the clown posse House Committee participating in this conspiracy? Because after months of ridiculous posing and bogus claims they've found absolutely nothing to charge Biden with. Trump, on the other hand, has a laundry list of violations he's already been found guilty of, with a lot more on the way that he's obviously guilty of.
To claim Biden should be disqualified from holding public office when there's no proof of any wrongdoing at any level is nuts, especially when you continue to support the train wreck of corruption and crimes that is Trump.
Even more insane, if that's possible, is your claim that Biden is somehow responsible for two wars being started. Putin was emboldened to start planning his Ukraine invasion because he knew he had Trump in his pocket (140 contacts with Russian agents during his 2016 campaign, private meeting in the Oval Office with Russian agent and reporter, online misinformation and disinformation by Russian agents to help Trump win in 2016, and continuing to this day), and Trump's idiotic attempts to tear down NATO led Putin to believe he could act without worry about NATO getting involved. Biden pulled NATO together and has so far kept Putin from conquering Ukraine.
Hamas attacking Israel had nothing to do with Biden, or any consideration Hamas would have given to any president of our nation. They knew Israel would fight back, as they should, the U.S. wasn't a consideration. It's moronic to try to assign any responsibility for the Hamas attack to Biden.
On climate change, India has begun to move toward new green energy sources recently, and China has reduced their CO2 emissions by 5%, though both countries are still far too reliant on coal, and need to move to green energy faster.
You know about coal, right? The source of energy Trump loves to talk about using more of, and how beautiful it is, and how we can use "clean coal", as he called it. (There's no such thing, if you're wondering, it's just another idiotic statement by Trump, who knows nothing)
Climate change, like our profligate spending, has huge consequences.

I wonder what Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump accomplished together when they were friends.
