To the editor:

As a frequent walker in Whitaker Woods with my two goldens, I do not think a leash law is necessary or should be required. I have walked there for years and have never encountered unruly dogs. My two goldens will go up to people to greet them but never jump up, and move away if they are unwanted, which is the case for most dogs. That is one of the few areas that my dogs can be loose in the winter time and have a nice run, which they need.
