To the editor:

I don’t think John Raeder (letter to the editor in Saturday's paper) read either my letter or the law before he penned his recent missive taking me to task. It’s always preferable to know the actual facts and law, especially when you presume to lecture an attorney who has practiced for a long time in constitutional law among other areas.

"Doxxing" an ICE agent and his or her family is extremely dangerous. There is a reason why we protect the home addresses of people in such situations, especially as part of the legal system. Now, with "big data" and facial recognition, it is possible to find things out about people, like where they live, if one is so determined.

And people who fight President Trump and his border/illegal immigration crackdown are so determined. This isn't theoretical, it has already happened. Anti-ICE "protesters" have hung flyers with the photos of ICE agents on them.

It isn't that the ICE agents are afraid of the bad guys. It is that they have families who can't be on constant alert against a potential assassination.

It is grotesque to suggest that our federal employees enforcing federal laws should be put at risk by the forces that are opposed to them.

But it's perfectly okay with you for Trump to incite violence at our Capitol, try to get his idiot minions to hang HIS Vice President, falsely accuse immigrants and citizens alike of a host of crimes to whip up his base against them that lead to violence like the pea-brained MAGA moron who believed the Pizzagate crap and went there with a rifle? Yeah, you're talking out of the wrong orifice.

I'm a little surprised that you're not employed by Trump in some capacity. Your qualifications and level of fealty to Il Duce certainly qualify you. After all, you're a master of nuisance litigation - no matter how trivial. You could do what you've done here and in Vermont on grand scale - yet, here you are in Bartlett. How frustrating for you!

U.S Immigration law is second only to the income tax code in legal complexity. Maybe we should start there to fix our system, so skilled or unskilled people our county wants or needs can easily come and go to work in the U.S. in legal status, and then focus our agents on preventing the entry or removing those we don't want or need . The trouble now is there is no discerning the probably good from the definitely bad. Watching on television as immigration agents chase "illegal" farm workers who have been picking our crops for years and paying taxes.....across major company farm fields makes you wonder how did they get those jobs year after year? Did the companies not know?...the field chases on TV were Keystone Cop-esk. Removing Korean nationals brought in temporarily by Hyundai, trying to make sense of our country's arcane visa program, to provide technical expertise to complete a factory that will employ thousands of Americans. Why focus there? And arresting immigrants trying to toe the legal line and who show up dutifully for their immigration appointments / hearings before INS, as they are lawfully required to do. Why them?. U.S. immigration policy disfunction is a decades long problem. Both parties are to blame for this mess. And here we are... we were supposed to be after the hardened criminal illegals, at least in the beginning. Now it all seems to be just about numbers. Make arrests/deport ...anyone...fully illegal, out of status, and apparently even naturalized citizens in some cases, ....anyone will do.

Oh yeah Jim, the ICE agents are wearing masks because they're so scared of Antifa "terrorists". I'm sure that's the case.

Keep trying to spin your BS about due process Jim, and excuse Trump's trampling of the Constitution. No matter how you try to spin it, no due process violates the law. If you support being a nation of laws you should be finding many faults with Trump's actions.

Absolutely! Jim is the Sun's current liberal baiter - and he's doing a fair job. However, his pseudo legal babble, couched in the terminology of an actual lawyer (I hear he actually IS a lawyer...) is transparent, misleading garbage. I suspect the Right sits back and agrees with him, while the Left can only take so much for so long. AAARRGH!
