To the editor:

Over the past several months, widely reported examples of cruel and illegal behavior by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have shocked the nation and prompted widespread protest. While the president’s border czar and the secretary of Homeland Security have been replaced, enforcement operations continue and detention centers are being expanded. It is reasonable to assume that in some situations unlawful or abusive conduct could continue.
