To the editor:

“Half as long if we manage it well, twice as long if we manage it poorly.” These words were spoken in 1941 when answering questions put to him by reporters in 1941 in Washington, D.C. The speaker was referring to World War II, and the pandemic facing the world at the time, Nazi tyranny.

You are correct that Dr. Fauci is trying to manage the virus well but you are either misinformed, only watching Fox News, or simply a Trump supporter diehard to believe that Trump has, and is, handling the virus properly. Trump called it a hoax, repeatedly said that he had it "under control", played golf and held political rallies while ignoring the problem, contradicts and ignores the scientific and medical experts, and now blames Obama, China, and the WHO in order to deflect his culpability. So much for Trump accepting that, as President Truman said, the buck stops at his desk. Now he calls for his supports to liberate the sate which is the height of irresponsible behavior and makes the jobs of Governors much harder. We all want to go back to work but life is more important than the stock market. If you follow his tweets, it is obvious that he has failed miserably and that he is no Churchill. and that he must be held accountable for the huge loss of life and collapse of our economy

Trump is handling the pandemic wisely. Is that a joke? In February, Trump stated : "It's going to disappear. One day it's like a miracle - it will disappear."

You're a doctor - how's that disappearing hype working out for you?
