To the editor:

When I drove to Center Conway to vote, it was the first time I observed the ongoing construction of the new roundabout at East Conway Road and Route 302.

Enter, "Safety Benefits of Roundabouts" into Google. There is universal agreement among federal, state, and municipal highway agencies on the following factual statistics: "90 percent reduction in fatal crashes; 76 percent reduction in injury crashes; 30 to 40 percent reduction in pedestrian crashes; and 10 percent reduction in bicycle crashes". That you don't like roundabouts is a personal preference. However, the facts overwhelmingly favor roundabouts over light-controlled intersections.
