To the editor:

Lawmakers continue to argue that RSA 194:15-a should be repealed because N.H. Rep. Amanda Bouldin (D-Manchester) says it is “sort of like a hidden virus” on the books. Rep. Steve Woodcock (D-Conway) says repealing the law would not affect students’ ability to practice religion in school on their own and we are not accommodating the secular believers. Really now! Even secularists know the value of goodness and love for one another. Legislators continue to argue the meaning of separation of church and state as a political distance between religion and the nation state that supports their argument of a secular state, thereby changing the relationship between church and state. Lawmakers need to recognize that the people are the church and state, and that our children should be given the opportunity to pray and be educated about prayer in public schools.
