To the editor:With reference to Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital.Diagnosed at six years with diabetes and very sick, it seemed my cats life would soon be over. He died at 17 years, after a happy life made possible by the loving care he received at the FVH.I trekked back and forth many times over the years with my diabetic pal, my other cat and two dogs when they were sick or injured. The visits were sometimes planned, sometimes not, but I was never turned away and never once harassed for money. My other cat, 21 years old, with me from a kitten, ended her life there in the loving care of a man of kindness, who I am honored to have known. Lets call him Dr. Steve. My final bill arrived after I had moved and a friend forgot to forward it to me. Six months later when I returned and discovered the unpaid bill, I went there to pay it. All interest charges were dropped and I was thanked for paying.I still have, and will always treasure, the cards of condolence signed by everyone at FVH which they sent to me each time one of my much loved animals passed away.At the end of the day, everyone has to make a living and the doctors and staff at the FVH are no exception. They juggle the asking of their fees with the offering of a compassionate service, and are to be commended for this, not berated in newspaper articles.
