I continue to be both disappointed and outraged by the continuing pressure for an immediate revised teacher's contract and implementation of the raises down through the entire school district staff. The taxpayers were clear that there was no continuing entitlement for greater compensation and benefits increases. The Board should be, at least, recording a vote to specifically confirm or deny this presumed entitlement recommended by the administration. For the most part, the taxpayers have not been graced with any significant improvement for the past five or more years. During this same period the school staff has prospered comparatively well, gaining some 20 to 25 percent in pay and benefits.[reference BLS reports] Aside from the public sector there has been a very serious slow-down generally referred to as a recession (if you retained your job) or a depression (if you did not).
