I am neither Democrat nor Republican, nor have I been for over 30 years. I have been less than impressed by either party, and as candidate and his/her principles and abilities are the priority, party plays no part in my decisions. I base my decisions on the candidate’s qualifications, integrity and principles. I educate myself through many venues: media, newspapers, attendance, and letters by interested members of the community. All these venues are subject to as much scrutiny as the candidate. My principles have remained steadfast, unlike some writers. How much credence will I place in writers who change their party affiliation as one would change a coat? Not much. I will take much more credence in someone whose beliefs are steadfast, no matter if their philosophy is different from mine. At least they have remained faithful to their beliefs.
