To the editor:Open letter to Jackson voters:My name is Dave Mason and Im running for the position of selectman in Jackson. I am currently a member and the chairman of the Jackson Planning Board. My wife, Jeanne, and I have been coming to Jackson since the late 1960s and became residents of Jackson in 1993. As is true for many folks living in Jackson, we were drawn to the great natural beauty we all enjoy. We began by backpacking into the mountains for fly fishing and hunting. As time went by, and we were able, we bought a house lot and built our home. With our interest in the outdoors and the environment, we are supporters of local organizations such as the Upper Saco Valley Land Trust and Tin Mountain Conservation Center. In my work on the Jackson Planning Board, I have recognized the importance of the towns Master Plan and Capital Improvement Plan in helping us look forward and consider what we would like to be in the future. As a selectman, I will work actively to establish and move the goals and objectives of forward-looking planning that will support and maintain the unique character of our community. As owner and operator of successful insurance agencies in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, Ive had the experience of being an employer, meeting a payroll and working with budgets in up cycles and down cycles. As a selectman, my background and experience will enable me to contribute to the efficient operation of town government. Thank you for considering my candidacy for your vote.
