A few weeks ago, four of our Conway selectmen piled on their fifth colleague, Peter Donohoe, for his public advocacy of more comprehensive community planning and his criticism of the Rec Path juggernaut. The presenting issue seemed to be one of his columns for this newspaper, with commentary other members apparently felt should have been part of board discussion. The underlying cause may have been personal pique at his collective criticism of past board decisions. I've defended the selectmen when it was warranted, but I don't find Peter's complaints about process unjustified.

From its inception, the Rec Path has reflected a deeper problem that I think Peter has correctly diagnosed, and hopes to address. Phase 1 of the path illustrated how we've occasionally been ill served by the selectmen's trusting natures — or by their devotion to a recreational tourist industry that has forced the people of Conway to pay the price of that industry's excess.

So True ! Government for the people, by the people !

Not....

Government, and we do whatever "we"want, no matter what the town folk say....

The selectmen are voted in by the people, but the instant they get elected, they forget where they came fom and whos will they represent.

The end result is the destruction of our quaint little town, once beautiful, but no more.

Lets stop the cancer of urban sprawl, by impeaching the current deaf selectmen imeadiately, and voting in a whole new lot of selectman that are willing to represent the true townfolk, and preserve any remaining aspect of our bucolic little town thay may be salvaged.

The influence of those from the south must be shelved. Maybe its time to end the migration that breeds such distain. Locals need to stand up ! Our way of life depends on it.
