It’s difficult not to be amused at Graham Platner’s political trajectory, reminiscent though it is of the Challenger space shuttle. All the rabid progressives in the Democratic Party who saw him as their messiah, and castigated his critics for their attacks on him, now recant and revile him themselves, begging him to drop out.
Given the venom those same folks lavish on President Donald Trump, the flak Platner took seems almost lighthearted, but the exaggerated Democratic indignation over the criticism he attracted offered hilarious hypocrisy. Their sensitivity seems more reasonable, however, when taken in context. Trump is the misogynist scumbag revered by much of the Republican Party, while Platner was the Democrats’ own misogynist scumbag. Party leaning always prevails over principle.
