Other than the Great Depression, which gripped the entire developed world from 1929-39, there has not been an event that so pervasively altered all of our daily lives like the coronavirus pandemic.

Even during World War II, most of life outside of the conflict continued on much as before, albeit with the restraints of rationing, darkened windows, curfews and the shift to industrial war production.
