On Nov. 6, readers of this paper saw an editorial and column placed side by side that, without meaning to, told the whole story of Conway’s planning dilemma.

On one side, the editorial urged the long-discussed extension of the North–South Road to help relieve traffic pressure in general. On the other, former selectman Mark Hounsell called for a pause on the second phase of the Mount Washington Valley Recreation Path until the town follows its own rules.
