SB 252, recently recommended for passage by the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee relates to the detection and prevention of financial exploitation of vulnerable adults, the most prevalent form of elder abuse.

Financial exploitation of the elderly is a growing and common problem. It extends far beyond scams such as a Nigerian prince who needs you to send money or a nephew who supposedly is in financial trouble. About two-thirds of financial exploitation of the elderly is perpetrated by trusted individuals, such as family members, caretakers, friends and even attorneys, banks and financial advisers.
