CONWAY – Carroll County Sheriff Domenic Richardi (who was elected unopposed on Tuesday) got $27,000 worth of grant money for drug patrols because that's the amount he requested but if he asked for more he might have gotten nothing at all.

Earlier in October, Gov. Maggie Hassan and the Executive Council announced approval state grants funded by the bipartisan legislation expanding Operation Granite Hammer statewide. Hassan proposed the funding as part of a strategy to combat the opioid crisis, and the Legislature approved it in June. The $27,000 award to Carroll County Sheriff's Office was one of 16 given to law enforcement agencies around New Hampshire.
